Of course, like any other city, the whole Syracuse area is dotted with commerce. Here are the details of some of the more concentrated shopping areas.

Probably the most popular mall in Syracuse in the Carousel Mall, between the City of Syracuse and the north shore of Onondaga Lake. Carousel features a combination of upscale department stores like Bonwit Teller and Lord & Taylor and discount stores such as Best Buy and CompUSA. With over 200 stores, an extensive food court, a fully restored 1909 antique carousel, and several kiosks, Carousel Mall seems to have it all.
The most recently built mall is the Fayetteville Towne Center which serves the eastern suburbs. Target,TJMaxx, P&C Foods, Stickley Furniture, Kohl's and Jo-Anne fabrics are the largest stores in the mall. The YMCA has a fabulous new facitily there and in additon, there are many restaurants (Panera Bread, Carabas, King David's, Great Northern Pizza, Chicago Grill)and smaller boutiques.
Other malls in the Syracuse area include Shoppingtown Mall, located on Erie Boulevard in Dewitt. Recently rennovated and expanded, this mall is anchored by JC Penney, Sears, Kauffmans, and The Bon Ton. Great Northern Mall, at the intersection of Routes 31 and 481 in Clay, serves the northern suburbs. This mall features Dick's Sporting Goods and Toys R US in addition to Sears and Kauffmans.
There are a few areas around Central New York for excellent boutique shopping. In downtown Syracuse, Armory Square draws discerning shoppers to clothing, antique, shoe, and specialty food shops. Skaneateles is an entire village full of boutiques and gift shops. In Cazenovia there are some old-time storefronts housing unique gift shops.
Overall, living in Syracuse gives one the sense that anything you may need to buy is available to you. You just need to know where to look.
